Vitaminity Apple Extract Hair Complex

Vitaminity Apple Extract Hair Complex is a food supplement based on a dry procyanidin extract of Annurca Apple native of Campania (PGI), in a dose of 450 mg/enteric-coated capsule supplemented with a dry extract of bamboo and millet, which fight baldness and promote proper hair growth/regrowth.

A recent, influential study conducted by the University of Naples Federico II and published in the Journal of Medicinal Food showed that the Annurca Apple extract contains PROCYANIDIN B-2: this ingredient is found in high concentrations in the Annurca Apple variety, definitely high compared to other more common apple cultivars.

Procyanidin B-2 is known in the literature for its action on the hair bulb, in particular as a promoter of bulb cell proliferation; hence it can prolong the anagen phase of the hair follicle cycle.

Apple Extract Hair Complex also contains some other plant extracts of Bamboo and Millet, for improved final hair care action.

The enteric-coated capsules used for Apple Extract Hair Complex allow the active substances to be better absorbed, thereby increasing bioavailability and efficacy.

Annurca is a historically old cultivar of domesticated apple native to Campania; it seems to have appeared as early as the pre-Roman age; originally grown in the Pozzuoli area, it now enjoys Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and is grown nonintensively in other areas of the region as well.

Procyanidin B-2 is known in the literature for its action on the hair bulb, in particular as a promoter of bulb cell proliferation; hence it can prolong the anagen phase of the hair follicle cycle, thereby increasing keratin biosynthesis and stimulating the stem cells of the outer root sheath. These effects seem to result from antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions and involvement of TGF-β and anti-apoptotic kinases (MAPK/ERK).

In the study published by the University of Naples Federico II, such extract was tested in a randomized trial vs. placebo involving 250 volunteers with moderate hair loss. It proved effective in promoting hair regrowth and increasing hair weight/consistency: the data collected in the study suggest that, following intake of 800 mg Annurca Apple extract daily, the number of hairs per square centimetre of skin roughly doubled and hair weight, and keratin content increased by nearly one third, within 60 days. It should be noted that no side effects were observed in the study.

Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris Schrad. ex J.C. Wendl., Germen), dry extract titrated to 75% in silica

Bamboo is a plant with proven efficacy in hair care applications, based on the extremely high concentrations of bioavailable silica and several other mineral salts.

Millet (Panicum miliaceum, Fructus), dry extract D/E 4:1

Millet is a grain that is particularly useful for hair health: it is extremely rich in proteins, sulphur-containing amino acids (cysteine/methionine) and vitamins (especially group B vitamins), which are very helpful in maintaining healthy hair and appendages.

HOW TO USE

Recommended intake: 2 capsules daily, preferably between meals, with plenty of water.
